Health Insurance
Students who are citizens of an EU (the European Union) or EFTA (the European Free Trade Agreement) country do not need to buy a medical insurance. They should possess the European health insurance card. On arrival students are advised to contact a local division of the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia - NFZ) There, on the basis of the student's insurance card, a document confirming the right to medical assistance in Poland will be issued for them. This document contains also a list of medical services available to its holder.
Other students who want to have health insurance, can choose among the following options:
- You can go to a local division of the National Health Fund [Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia] to sign an insurance agreement and fill out the required application forms. From then, you will have to pay a contribution at about USD 20 per month. On completion of your study in Poland you will need to contact the Fund again and terminate the agreement.
- You can buy insurance cover from a commercial insurance company . It is possible for a foreigner to insure against the risk of accidental injury (it is referred to as NNW in Polish) as well as against the cost of medical treatment. The price will depend on the length of insurance period and the number of risks your insurance covers.
The staff of The School will be pleased to help students with the paperwork involved.
